Usually, yes — especially if the car has swirl marks, light scratches, haze, or oxidation. A graphene coating locks in the condition of the paint underneath it, so if the finish is not corrected first, those defects can remain visible. ArtDeShine also states that the paintwork should be prepared properly before coating application to achieve a good bond.

For most Irish drivers, yes. Wax gives shorter-term protection, while a graphene or ceramic-style coating is designed to last much longer and better resist road grime, rain, bird droppings, UV, and contamination. That matters in Ireland, where cars deal with frequent rain, damp conditions, and winter road salt.

No — not fully. A graphene coating can help reduce very light wash marring because the surface is slicker, but it is not the same as paint protection film and it will not stop proper stone chips or deeper scratches. If someone wants impact protection, PPF is the stronger option.

ArtDeShine says its coatings can last for years when the car is well maintained, but exact lifespan depends on the coating type, how the vehicle is stored, how often it is driven, and how well it is maintained. In real Irish conditions, durability depends heavily on washing habits, road use, and whether harsh chemicals are used

Yes — that is one of the main benefits. Coated cars tend to release dirt more easily, water beads more readily, and washing becomes quicker because contamination sticks less aggressively to the surface. That said, the car still needs regular maintenance washing.

The safest approach is regular maintenance washes using proper wash methods and pH-appropriate products, while removing bird droppings, tree sap, and road contamination quickly. ArtDeShine says maintenance depends on the coating type and environment, and it also sells maintenance products such as GrapheneSeal and Bio Nano Pro for topping up protection.

For many owners, yes — especially if they want easier maintenance, better gloss, and longer-lasting protection against rain, dirt, road film, and winter contamination. In Ireland, where the weather can keep a car dirty for long periods, a quality coating can make day-to-day upkeep noticeably easier, even though it does not make the car maintenance-free

For a premium result, professional application is usually the better route. Proper prep is the biggest part of the job, and a poor prep stage can ruin the final result even if the coating itself is good. ArtDeShine’s own FAQ refers to application by certified applicators, and Irish installers also position these coatings as specialist services rather than simple spray-on products.
